Kempf to speak at U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation event
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – NPF Commissioner Cheri Kempf will join a powerful lineup slated for the second annual Sports Forward Summit, hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, which is set to take place Sept. 17 in Washington D.C.
The summit is designed to explore the future of women in sports and features a who’s who of speakers, including athletes, business leaders, and industry experts. The speakers will address societal attitudes surrounding women in sports and discuss ideas and solutions to boost participation, access and fan engagement at women’s sporting events.
“It’s a privilege to be part of this special event, and extremely important to take advantage of opportunities that create awareness around the women’s sports environment,” Kempf said. “The volume level of conversations surrounding issues of empowering girls and women has increased greatly over the past 18 months, and I am grateful for the chance to contribute through the Sports Forward Summit.”
Earlier this year, Kempf joined the launch of the SheIS movement, an initiative designed to band women’s sports leagues together to raise awareness and consciousness of women’s sports at a national level. In addition to involvement in the Sports Forward event, the SheIS coalition hosted its own launch in New York and had a recognized presence at special events such as the WNBA All-Star Game, NPF Championship Series, U.S. Open, and the upcoming NWSL Championship.
