Bandits, Marshall agree to three-year extension

ROSEMONT, Ill. — The Chicago Bandits have agreed to a three-year contract extension with outfielder Sammy Marshall, team officials announced Tuesday.

Marshall, entering her fourth season at the professional level, set career marks in a number of offensive categories during the 2017 season. The former Western Illinois standout batted .322 with a pair of home runs, 11 RBI and swiped nine bases to remain a potent threat in numerous aspects of the game.

“Sammy has been an important piece of our roster for the past three seasons and we’re thrilled to have her on board for another three,” Bandits general manager Toni Calmeyn said. “She has been a tremendous role model for aspiring female athletes and we’re looking forward to seeing her contribute on and off the field in Chicago.”

The Bandits selected Marshall 18th overall in the fourth round of the 2015 NPF Draft and the Naperville native made her professional debut with the franchise against the Pennsylvania Rebellion on May 29, 2015.

Marshall captured the NPF’s coveted Rally Spikes Award, presented by 3n2 Sports, during the 2016 season after pacing the league with 16 stolen bases in 18 attempts. She recorded her first career home run, an inside-the-park homer, against the Beijing Shougang Eagles, on June 7, 2017.

In addition to her play on the field, Marshall helped design an alternate “electric blue” jersey for the Bandits during the 2016 offseason.

The four-time Cowles Cup champion Chicago Bandits will be back at The Ballpark at Rosemont for the 2018 season. For more information about the Chicago Bandits or to reserve your season tickets, please visit or call the box office at 877-722-6348.
