Bandits ink veteran Taylor to two-year deal
ROSEMONT — The Chicago Bandits have signed veteran third baseman Nadia Taylor to a two-year extension, team officials announced Saturday night.
Taylor launched five home runs across four games in her first year with the Bandits, which tied for the fourth-best mark on the club. The former Texas standout standout also chipped in 24 RBI while hitting .270. Her .984 fielding percentage ranked among the top-10 in National Pro Fastpitch during the 2018 season.
“We are excited to have Nadia back in Rosemont for the next two seasons,” Bandits general manager Toni Calmeyn said. “Her combination of on-field skill and leadership provides tremendous value.”
Two of Taylor’s five home runs came in back-to-back games June 22-23 as part of a five-game sweep of the Beijing Shougang Eagles. The Humble, Texas, product drove in five runs throughout the series.
An All-NPF selection for the second straight year, Taylor also earned national recognition as the recipient of the 2018 Jennie Finch Award, an honor given to a player who exhibits excellence in sportsmanship, leadership and humility both on and off the field.
Before joining the Bandits as a free agent prior to the 2018 campaign, Taylor enjoyed three standout seasons with the Texas Charge. While in Texas, she slugged a career-high 10 home runs and delivered 32 RBI en route to 2017 All-NPF honors. Throughout her five-year tenure in the NPF, Taylor owns a .266 batting average with 21 home runs and 81 RBI.
The four-time Cowles Cup champion Chicago Bandits will be back at Parkway Bank Sports Complex for the 2019 season. For more information about the Chicago Bandits or to reserve your season tickets, please visit chicagobandits.com or call the box office at 877-722-6348.
