Bandits ink Team USA member Carda to one-year deal
ROSEMONT – The Chicago Bandits have signed right-handed pitcher/infielder Ally Carda to a one-year extension, team officials announced Wednesday afternoon.
Carda, as a first-year Bandit in 2018, compiled a stellar 1.62 ERA over 43.2 innings in the circle and paced the staff with four saves. As a hitter, the former UCLA standout registered a .429 batting average across 21 at-bats and chipped in a home run and five RBI.
“We are excited to welcome Ally Carda back to Rosemont ahead of the 2019 season,” Bandits general manager Toni Calmeyn said. “Ally proved to be a great asset to our pitching staff and we look forward to another terrific season from her.”
Carda delivered 5.1 strong innings of work and smacked a two-run home run in a 12-2 rout of the Cleveland Comets on Aug. 2. The Elk Grove, California, product also recorded eight strikeouts in the game and took a no-hit bid into the sixth inning.
USA Softball named Carda to its 2019 Women’s National Team on Jan. 7. The right-hander boasts considerable international experience and earned gold medals at the 2011 WBSC Junior Women’s World Championship and the 2016 Women’s World Championship. The 2015 Japan Cup MVP also helped guide Team USA to gold-medal finishes at the 2018 Japan Cup and the Pan American Championship in 2010 and 2017.
The four-time Cowles Cup champion Chicago Bandits will be back at Parkway Bank Sports Complex for the 2019 season. For more information about the Chicago Bandits or to reserve your season tickets, please visit chicagobandits.com or call the box office at 877-722-6348.
