Bandits announce ‘Rumble in Rosemont’ Midwest Invitational

ELGIN - Beginning in early June and ending with the opportunity to hoist a championship trophy in August, the Chicago Bandits announced today the creation of the “Rumble in Rosemont Midwest Invitational” tournament series.

Each weekend, June through July, will feature different age groups in a fastpitch tournament starting with a 12U tournament Saturday, June 4-5. The following weekend, June 11-12, will feature a 14U tournament. June 18-19 is open to all 16U teams and June 25-26 will be for 18U teams.

The tournament cycle will then start over July 2- 3, featuring 12U teams. July 9-10 will play host to 14U teams with July 16-17 being for 16U teams. The final weekend of tournament play will be July 23-24 for 18U teams. Teams from all over the midwest are encouraged to sign up.

“We really hope to make this a true midwest tournament,” said Bandits General Manager Aaron Moore. “We want teams from Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio, Kentucky, anywhere in the midwest to come participate and make this a great event. Last season it was enormously popular so we’re positive with a new stadium and more amenities Bandits of Tomorrow will be even better in 2011.”

The champions of each tournament age group will be invited back in August to play one another in a final Championship game before a Chicago Bandits home game for a grand prize trophy and medals. Final Championship game dates will be decided in January upon release of the 2011 National Pro Fastpitch schedule.

Most tournament games will be played on the state of the art home field of the Chicago Bandits, inside the new Bandits Stadium in Rosemont, Ill. Due to the size of tournaments, some games may be moved to a local High School. However, every team will get to play at the new stadium. Amenities for the tournaments will include two umpires for every game, live streaming video and audio of each game, a DVD featuring all the games of the tournament, and more.

Teams will have access to the batting cages, locker rooms, bullpens, dugouts, concession stands will be open and each team will receive 12 tickets a Bandits game.

Bandits staff will be on hand each game to announce the starting line-ups, play warm up and walk out music, announce batters stepping up to the plate and write game recaps to be posted on the Bandits website (www.chicagobandits.com).

Essentially, each tournament game will be operated like a Chicago Bandits home game, featuring the participating teams in the tournaments.

Each tournament will cost $550 per team and comes with a five-game guarantee. All games will be played in Rosemont, Ill. on the Bandits home field.
